The HABS-K ss (Hell and Back Survival Knife stainless steel) was designed with survival in mind. This knife features a 4.5 mm thick full tang design. The 5″ cutting edge is hollow ground, overall length is 9.5″. G10 handle scales with a rubberized coating features divots in the center of each side for use as the spindle socket for a bow drill. With divots on each side the blade can be positioned away from either a right hand or left hand user. The top of the blade is perfectly flat to aid in batoning through thick wood and the hollow grind along with the 4.5 mm thick blade aids in splitting the wood. A striker cut out just in front of the thumb grip makes striking a fire with the included fire striker a breeze. The weight distribution is amazing as the knife is perfectly balanced, yet the design allows for a weight forward momentum when chopping and the shape of the blade assists in making easy work of chopping. The unique blade design also makes slicing through rope and twine and shaving wood slivers more ergonomic and as the beginning straight edge starts through the cut as the blade slides the curved edge keeps pressure against the work. The hollow grind proceeds to the tip along the bottom edge and with no back grind along the top, the point as result does not thin out and maintains a stronger tip. The butt of the knife features a built in wire cutter, and the scales are removable with an allen wrench. The pvc lined MOLLE compatible nylon sheath is ambidextrous with a belt loop built in. You can attach it to any MOLLE compatible pack, and works well with a drop leg platform. Includes a sharpening stone in the pouch on the front of the sheath with a space between the sheath and pouch to slide in a few smaller items. Knife weighs 9.7 oz, sheath with fire striker and whetstone weighs 5.9 oz, total weight 15.6 oz. Stone washed darkened finish with black scales.
If you could only carry one survival tool with you, it would have to be the HABS-K.
